Polyvinylidene fluoride, or PVDF. is a fluorinated thermoplastic which has outstanding resistance to most mineral and organic acids, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, halogenated solvents, and oxidizing environments. It also has outstanding aging resistance, with its properties remaining constant after many years of continuous use.
Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is used as a positive electrode binder in lithium batteries.
It is the main source of the mechanical properties of the entire electrode and has an important influence on the production process of the electrode and the electrochemical performance of the battery. In addition to the bondins performance, it also needs to be able to withstand the swelling and corrosion of the electrolyte, and withstand the electrochemical corrosion during the charge and discharge process, and remain stable within the working voltage range of the electrode.

(1) The amount of PVDF added according to the coating thickness of the positive electrode active material is usually 1.8-3.0% of the total dry powder amount.
(2) When preparing the glue, it is recommended that the solid content of PVDF is 5%, the temperature is 40-60°C, the linear speed is 12-15m/S, and the stirring time is 240-360min. After the glue is made, the viscosity is 250-350mpa's.
(3) PVDF is stored in a sealed and dry environment. The glue should be used up as much as possible at one time. The accumulated glue must be stored in a vacuum. The storage time is<72H
